Our Suppliers

As a package-free shop, we focus significantly on our suppliers as they can play a very important role in reducing the quantity of waste produced. This is what we do:

 We prioritise big packaging

We work with a couple of big wholesalers and we buy from them just like a big restaurant kitchen does – mostly in 10-25kg paper sacks (for things like rice, seeds, nuts, etc.)

 We love local

We try to have as many local collaborations as possible – if we can have a relationship with the producer, we get to have a better discussion about how we want the products packaged and delivered. Some examples of these are chocolate and candy that are made in Malmö and delivered to us in boxes/buckets, which are cleaned and then taken away and reused by the supplier. The same happens for coffee beans, cookies, seed bread, halloumi cheese, honey and eggs (we save the cartons to return them). We work with as many local producers as possible as eating local is also a big environmental plus.

 We (really) love local

Some of our suppliers deliver products in reusable glass bottles or jars, so the customer pays a charge (pant) for the container, which they get back when they return it. The bottle then gets washed thoroughly by us and sent back to the supplier for sterilizing and refilling. We do this for milk, halloumi cheese, vegan butter and vegan cheese! This is only possible with local suppliers and it is an extra reason we prefer local - it allows the possibility of a pant system that works efficiently.
